This project is located in Hamden, in the East Rock section of the town (same location as the Outdoor Kitchen project). We were provided a very detailed drawing package from a local architect to reconfigure and remodel an existing kitchen and family room, add a master suite, finish attic space as a play room and office area, and reconfigure some exterior details.
The kitchen includes a mixture of high-end appliances, including Thermador refrigeration columns, a steam oven, and a dual-fuel Viking range. The counter tops and sinks are soapstone, the backsplash is Ann Sacks mosaic tile, the cabinets are custom-made by a local cabinet shop, and the flooring is custom made from long-leaf yellow pine beams reclaimed from a dismantled Yale boat house.
The master suite is comprised of the master bedroom with new wood-burning fireplace, a foyer with floor-to-ceiling storage cabinetry, a dressing area, and bathroom with a teak vanity and soaking tub, and large curbless shower. The flooring in the master bedroom is teak, installed in a chevron pattern.
The exterior of the house is stucco, to match existing, and a combination of slate, copper, and EPDM roofing systems.
